This episode is with Jeff and Mikki of Keystone RampWorks (KSRW) and is the final installment of the now dubbed “Skateparks and Coronavirus” series. KSRW is a park that currently occupies a portion of the Wyoming Valley Sports Dome during the off-season for indoor field sports. Ultimately, their goal is to have a permanent location in the Wilkes-Barre area.

Whoa! Completely forgot to put up the formal release notice for the GrindWorks BMX Podcast episode 041 with Russell Kaye on WedgeWood Ramps skatepark and the impacts of Coronavirus. This one has been uploaded almost a full week now and I realized I never posted it while preparing to post the next episode.

SK8-1-4 is an all-inclusive skatepark in Altoona, PA with a heavy street influence. I sat down with Dub and talked about the history of the park as well as the short and long-term impacts of Coronavirus on SK8-1-4.
There’s some photos after the jump, as well as some links referenced throughout this episode. You’ll also find some links to check out the podcast on various other platforms as fits your lifestyle! Continue reading “SK8-1-4 Park with Dub: GrindWorks Podcast 040”
Here’s the first solo cast to cover some topics that have been on my mind lately. GrindWorks history, overstretching the brand, 2020 Jams, DVD project, and the GrindWorks store.

I’m really happy to finally have this episode recorded because Harry and I had this discussion a couple months ago, made basic arrangement to have the discussion via podcast, and then Coronavirus happened and put everyone on Stay-At-Home orders and closed The Wheel Mill for an undetermined amount of time, starting at 15 days, extending to 30, and now at 2 months long, there’s no end in sight for a re-opening.
There’s some more info after the jump to help fill the back-story that is alluded to at the beginning of this episode and will give you some additional context. There’s also some links to the fundraisers, so click to… Continue reading “The Wheel Mill with Harry Geyer: GrindWorks Podcast 038”
The first GrindWorks InstaJam event is Quarantine Barspins. As explained in the InstaJams Announcement Podcast, this is a pretty loose jam event. Do a barspin in your home, apartment, garage, etc… Let’s keep it to the “Stay-at-Home” theme for this one, as it’s Week 0, and at least here in SouthWestern PA, we are still under a stay at home order. Entries are due by 05/16/2020.
Check out the announcement post on Instagram for some examples of a quarantine barspin, but have fun and make it your own!
Check out after the jump for more details and the few applicable Guidelines. Continue reading “Week 0: Quarantine Barspins – GrindWorks Instajams”
Jams and contests seem to be a question on everyone’s minds right now as we begin to re-emerge from nation-wide stay-at-home orders and quarantines, while restrictions on gatherings remain in place. We have been trying to come up with an alternative for the last month or so and decided on a set of weekly InstaJams. Listen in for more details and check out the @grindworks_bmx Instagram for the flyers and more details as each event goes live!

James is originally from the Owego, New York area and many of you will know him from the Binghamton scene; he now lives in Austin, Texas. I caught up with him when I was visiting in January, but couldn’t make a podcast happen in-person, so we did it via Skype while we’re all still quarantined. This was very Binghamton-scene oriented and came out with a few good ideas for future episodes as well.

We recorded this one earlier tonight and its live now! Sometimes we CAN do things quickly! Anyways, Karlis took the time to call in and discuss BMX and the impacts of the Corona virus on a small business, Mantis Tattoo.

This past Saturday we did a live-stream podcast and were lucky to have some good interaction on the stream. We went live through our Mixer Channel, which you should go hit with a follow for future shows.
James Yusczyk co-hosted while we took on random comments and topics from chat, tending to be based loosely on the stay-at-home orders and Coronavirus. This episode was more of a learning experience than anything else, and as such, is pretty loose in the formatting. Regardless, check this one out and hopefully you’ll be able to participate in the next one!
